There is an additional chapter to this manga, Strider Gaiden, which serves as a prequel of sorts. It tells the story of how Hiryu came to leave the Striders in the first place. Kuramoto, Sheena, and Kain all make an appearance.
Unfortunately, this chapter was not included in the tankobon (collected edition). You can read more about it here, but only if you can read Japanese.
